Clinical Practice Workshop

This intensive hands-on clinical workshop allows NMTs to work through all NMT techniques with NMT faculty and peers in a relaxed and focused atmosphere. The clinical practicum workshop is a great way to sharpen your clinical skills, exchange ideas with your peers, or prepare for your Fellowship!

This intensive 3 day workshop will provide an opportunity for neurologic music therapists to review and practice all of the neurologic music therapy techniques under the supervision of the Unkefer Academy teaching faculty.  Live demonstrations, breakout clinical practice sessions, mock scenarios, and standardized assessment practice, will be used to increase your knowledge and clinical competence in NMT.

This training is open to all students and professionals who have completed the Training Institute for Neurologic Music Therapy through the Unkefer Academy for Neurologic Music Therapy.  NMT training does NOT allow one to practice outside their professional licensure-training-certification.

Training will begin at 9 am on Friday morning and end at noon on Sunday.  Please make sure that your travel arrangements allow you adequate time to get to/from the airport (a 1 ½-2 hour trip), as completion of the training in its entirety is expected to obtain the CMTE certificate.

Upon completion of this course, participants will:

  •  Be able to demonstrate an advanced knowledge about neurologic music therapy (NMT), including all of the taxonomy of techniques used in NMT;
  • Demonstrate an increased knowledge of current research supporting NMT techniques;
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Transformational Design Model; a model to assist in treatment selection based on functional goals; and
  • Identify and perform current clinical assessments that can be used by NMT’s for treatment evaluation.
