NMT™ Advocates
An NMT™ Advocate is an organization that recognizes NMT™ as the gold standard of practice in applied music neuroscience and demonstrates a commitment to the mission of the Academy by promoting the NMT™ system of techniques in their marketing, conferences, websites, etc.
NMT™ Training Partners
An NMT™ Training Partner is defined as an organization that recognizes NMT™ as the gold standard of practice in applied music neuroscience and demonstrates a commitment to dissemination, advancement, and protection of the practice of NMT™. An NMT™ Training Partner enters into an ongoing contract with the NMT™ Academy in order to host a training event (NMT™ Institute, Allied Professional Training, Clinical Practice Workshop, Advanced Fellowship). Training Partner hosts are typically clinics, universities, or hospitals that have identified a need for NMT™ training in their area, and must be able to supply adequate space as well as musical instruments to provide quality hands-on learning experiences for participants, and all NMT™ Training Partners must have an onsite manager/coordinator.
NMT™ Internship Sites
An NMT™ Internship Site actively teaches students in the NMT™ treatment system of techniques during their internship program. NMT™ internships are for students who have completed the initial NMT™ training and are supervised by NMT™ Fellows who are actively engaged in the Academy NMT™ Educator forums as well as active contributors to NMT™ Global Meetings and Local Support Chapters.

NMT™ Centers of Excellence
An NMT™ Center of Excellence is defined as a hospital, clinic, or private practice where NMT™ is recognized as the gold standard of best practice in applied music neuroscience and a commitment to dissemination, advancement, and protection of the practice of NMT™ is demonstrated.
At an NMT™ Center of Excellence:
- The NMT™ treatment techniques are used as a common language among interprofessional and patient communication.
- NMT™ is integrated into all aspects of treatment including referral process, assessment, treatment planning, treatment implementation, and discharge.
- The environment is designed to accommodate NMT™ services (e.g., assessment, designated treatment spaces, storage for instruments, etc.).
- All music therapy personnel are trained and hold a current NMT™ professional affiliate license through the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy®.
- All marketing including the website and job titles and descriptions accurately reflect the NMT™ professional mission and standards.
- Website says Neurologic Music Therapy®
- Job titles and descriptions indicate NMT™
- Name badges clearly indicate Neurologic Music Therapy® as the professional title.
