On April 1, 2020 the Academy launched the NMT Global Support Meetings in an effort to provide you with resources to stay connected to colleagues, continue your growth as NMT clinicians, and provide the best possible care to your clients. The weekly Wednesday meetings have been a great success, allowing therapists from all over the world to connect and learn as well as share their struggles, successes, and questions during this difficult time. Topics have been driven by the Affiliates and have included Advances in Clinical Music Neuroscience Research, Telehealth, Fellowship, the Transformational Design Model, and specific NMT techniques.
I would like to invite you to join us this week Wednesday, May 27, from 12:00 EST-13:00 EST. The topic will be Musical Sensory Orientation Training (MSOT). The meeting will include individual case presentations followed by small group breakout discussions.
Beginning June 3, we would like to move to a new monthly structure for the NMT Global Support Meetings which will encourage therapists to not only stay globally connected but also connected to their local NMTs. The Academy will continue to host meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, but while the need for support is particularly high right now we would like to encourage local support chapters to meet during the 2nd or 4th week of the month. This will allow therapists to connect and address questions and challenges that may be specific to their city, state, or country. The current local support chapters are listed on the NMT website, https://nmtacademy.co/local-support-chapters/, and we are also working to establish additional groups based on the need. The Academy will be working closely with the current support chapters in the coming weeks and months and If you are an NMT Fellow we would also like to encourage you to consider starting a chapter in your area if one does not exist.
